Library Specialist Position (For real this time.)

Following is a link to a Library Specialist Position(GIL ILL) at UNG-Dahlonega.

I titled a previous post this and the job link wasn't working. I redid the post but forgot to change the subject. Sorry for any confusion.

Archivesgig and Research Paper

Archivesgig.lovejournal.com, a archives job listing blog, is down until mid June. Though there are several other websites where Archives can be found; archivesgig is the only job blog with only archives positions.

I'm about finished with the research paper for MLIS 7505. I'm writing on Archivist Toolkit (AT), Archon, and ArchiveSpaces. A new archives management system created by developers of both AT and Archon. ArchiveSpaces is still in development so it is very interesting to see what features it has and its potential. Both AT and Archon are open source. ArchiveSpaces is on a new model where there is a yearly cost. This is due to professional maintenance and customer support.

Break time

I'm spending most of this break working on papers and I'm sure I'm not the only one in my class. In case anyone else needed a little break:

Keith Richards Overdue Fines

This article popped up and I thought it was a bit funny. I wonder what other musicians and celebrities are closet book nerds?

Job Seeking

I will be finishing up my master's this summer and then will be looking for a professional position. I'm signed up to the society of american archivists job listserv as well as the ALA's. I also search archivesgig.com, highereducation.com, and libgig.com.

I wonder if using these mass library job websites are the best use of my time as I'm sure each position receives hundreds if not thousands of applications.Which websites does everyone use here to look up library and archives related jobs? What techniques do you use find jobs that are not posted on these highly used websites and listservs?

Joombla

I created a Joombla website today for MLIS 7505. Initially I was able to figure out how to make articles and after some time of fiddling I was able to change the background colors and text color. Also I was able to create a banner for the webpage with some help from online tutorials, but still need to work some more with the overall theme.

You can find the page at the following address:

Wiki Creators?

Today i created my first wiki. I tried several of the recommended wiki generators and settled on using Zoho, which I've never heard of before. It had a very simple to use interface, but I need to find a way to liven it up some. Right now it is just text and looks relatively dull compared to the other forms of social media we are utilizing.

I tried a couple of different blogs, but some of their interfaces didn't have the appropriate style. For example, I have heard of people who really enjoy wikispaces.com, but it had a lot of classroom functionality that wasn't needed  and made the wiki more complex than needed. I'm curious to what wiki generators other people use who want a simple, but aesthetically pleasing wiki.
